Go see it! If you liked Braveheart and Gladiator you’ll probably appreciate this very simple, stunning movie.

  1. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this one is supposed to be a historical adaptation of the 300 spartans that held of the Persian army of Xerxes the First at the Battle of Thermopylae 480 B.C.. Since you watched it, is it only loosely historical and mostly kind of fantasy combat kind of stuff, or does it do a good job of narrating the events, like Braveheart did? I watched the preview and read a review of the movie in the paper but I didn't get a good idea about it.

  2. Hey Suresh, you're right. From what I understand, it is loosely historical. There were obvious liberties taken and I'm sure some not so obvious. But it really was stellar. It's doing huge business at the box-office (just read). It's going to be the biggest March opening ever!

  3. of course it's doing big biz…any movie where aryan whites slaughter the nefarious swarthy hordes will do well. Are you that oblivious to the racial undertones of the film?

Going off on a slight tagent, are you a fan of Bollywood films? Esp w.r.t the context of skin color?
