Based on what I’ve read about Joe Biden, I wanted to give him a chance. Then, last year he decided to tell the world that

“you cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I’m not joking.”

You can’t make this stuff up. Hmmph. Not so impressive for a member of the US Senate.

Today, I read about Senator-turned-presidential-candidate Joe Biden describing Barack Obama as

“the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.”

Seriously? After feeling misrepresented by reality TV, I try to reserve judgment these days. But, I’m not sure that’s the case here. Who is this guy? And why is he still here?

2/24/13 – I still kind can’t believe this guy is the freaking VP of the United States. Yeah. I have nothing to add.

  1. surya,
you should listen to what he actually said. therez a comma after 'mainstream african american'. after listening to it i felt it was different from what the transcript shows. but still, you can feel that racist undertone in what he said. just by putting in perspective of who biden is and how he thinks.

  2. I don't see how that shows him to be a republican. If Mr. Yalamanchili needed a reason not to be a republican he need look no further than the George Allen Macaca debacle. Maybe the lesson in all of this, is that the Indian-American minority in this country needs to assert itself more and become more visible, to prevent such slights from occurring in the future.
